English I & Pre-AP

Second semester is off to a great start!  In every class we have started our new "Monster Mobs." 

Currently, English I classes are reading "Thank You, Ma'am" by Langston Hughes while we are recovering all aspects of the short story. 

Pre AP English I have been reading "Rappaccini's Daughter" by Nathaniel Hawthorne. 

We are continuing our practice with Short Answer Response questions.

However, the most exciting addition to the class is our new form of note taking, the SMASH book.  Each student has their own SMASH book to individualize and take notes for every story we cover how they like.  Whether they are putting in pictures, drawing them, including the text they like, this is ensuring the students' notes are what they want them to be to help them remember every element of short stories.
