CONGRATULATIONS TO Jona Griffin -- Van Vleck High School’s newest STATE CHAMPION!!!!!

Jona won the Discus at the UIL State Track and Field Meet on Saturday with a throw of 128’8”. She also finished second in the shot put with a toss of 42’ 6.25’.

With Jona’s 18 points, Van Vleck finished 8^th in the state team ranking.

Once again thank you Jona for a terrific job representing Van Vleck and congratulations for a superb finish to an awesome career in Van Vleck athletics!!!!!

Congratulations to The Lady Leps Team members who competed in the Regional Track Meet on Monday and Tuesday May 2 and 3, 2011.

Freshman Melea Polk had a 5^th place finish in the 400 Meter Dash and the 4X400 Meter Relay finished 8^th in the region!

Also congratulations to Jona Griffin on her first place finishes in both the discus and the shot put! She will compete in the state track and field meet in two weeks. Jona's throw of 147'2" broke the Region 2A discus record of 144 feet previously held by Precious Tibedeaux.

VV, Tidehaven strong in Leopard Relays

Van Vleck hosted Leopard Relays Thursday, March 24, at Burl McKinney Stadium, giving county athletes a chance to showcase their talents.

Both Van Vleck and Tidehaven had strong showings with bigger 3A school like Sweeny, Needville and West Columbia in town.

Ten team on the girls and boys side made the meet a great opportunity to tone up for up coming district meets.
